Orangery

The building of the Orangery formed a part of the classicist Habsburg palace complex built in 1838. In 1846, Franz Liszt gave a concert in the Orangery, and in the 1880s, the famous Wagner performances of the Vienna Opera artists would take place there. Following the decision of Cieszyn local authorities, the building was demolished in 1966. In 2003-2005, a new building was erected in its place. Today’s Orangery is home to several companies and organisations, including Zamek Cieszyn – a centre of design and entrepreneurship – and the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation TRITIA.
